my 2005 masterpieceThis Saturday is Earth Day. Now, that may bring up all kinds of things for people... "hippie day" "just for crunchies day", etc. But after talking to my dad the other day and hearing that it was 82 degrees in South Dakota in mid April... EIGHTY-TWO DEGREES people. well, i just think that taking a day out to honor or maybe just consider the Earth that we happen to exist on will only lead to good things.
We maintain our cars, our homes, our chocolate stashes (maybe that's just me). why not maintain the darn thing that we walk on, sleep on, play on everyday? So, on Saturday, pick up that dirty piece of trash that has been stuck between the branches of that bush... you know the one. Smile at someone. take your shoes off and walk on the earth. sit with your back against a tree. breathe in really deep. smell that bright flower. stack a few rocks...
Which brings me to what I'll be doing on Saturday..
An earth artist from the East Bay is doing a neat thing at Stinson Beach from 11 - 3. Stinson is gorgeous. lemme know if you'd like to come along.

just kidding. i remember one earth day while in college i went to a big e-day celebration with my friend nan. they had a silent auction. i placed a bid on a giant canvas with drawings by kids. i won it. i was happy. i will pick up some trash [actual trash, not a date] just for you.
