[*if you're planning on seeing Harry and don't want to hear anything about it...you may not want to read this!]
well I have to say that HP GOF was not the "amazing, wonderful, best one yet!" movie i had anticipated. It was good for sure... but POA was incredible (Prisoner of Azkaban) and so much better by far = the sets were moody and beautiful, the relationships between characters were tight and it was actually scary in parts.
the fourth book was huge and i'm sure it was hard to whittle the story down to a 2.5-hour movie but at the end of the movie, i kept thinking about what the movie wasn't. hmmm. there was no sense of the characters we know and love. there wasn't any time given to Snape and his badass comments and the actor playing dumbledore...well I just don't like him. the other man (Richard Harris) was so much better! And hello, if Voldemort is going to get a body, that shit's gonna be scary right? not so much.
it was pretty, the effects were great, the story was told, but it was flat in my opinion. the best part of the movie was standing in line with a gazillion teenagers. they do this high-pitched screaming thing that is so funny. when the line started moving they screamed. when harry first came onscreen...screamed. hilarious. i forgot what it was like to be that age.
ok. now that i got that off my chest, there IS a movie that is worth seeing right now... Walk the Line. It was incredible. I'm not going to say another word about it. Just go see it.
